Message from the President
Dear Fellow AFP Chicago Member:
I hope that you have Friday, May 11, 2012 on your calendar to join AFP Chicago for our 36th annual AFP Chicago Philanthropy Awards Luncheon at the Hilton Chicago, when over 800 fundraising professionals and members of the philanthropic community honor seven outstanding individuals and one organization for their commitment to philanthropy in the Chicagoland area.
Those being honored are:
- Ellen Alberding, The Joyce Foundation (Professional Grantor Award)
- Marshall Field V, The Old Mountain Company, Inc. (Founders’ Award)
- Diane Gustafson Hill (Distinguished Philanthropist Award)
- Homeless Experts Living Life’s Obstacles (H.E.L.L.O.), (Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy Award)
- Charles L. Katzenmeyer, Adler Planetarium (Benjamin Franklin Award)
- Elizabeth Luxem, Amandla Charter School (Outstanding Volunteer Award)
- Frederick H. Waddell, Northern Trust Corporation (Executive Leader Award)
- Bernarda Wong, Chinese American Service League (Outstanding Community Leader Award)
I also have some exciting AFP Membership news to share with you. AFP International has launched two new membership categories designed to expand our membership. The new membership categories added included a Young Professional Membership for those 30 and under at a rate of $75 and a new Small Nonprofit Organizational Membership at a rate of $150 for those organizations with a budget of less than $1,000,000 which have fewer than 2 full time equivalent fundraising professionals. There are other qualifying factors for each new membership. Please visit the AFP International website for more information, and we hope you will share it with your friends and colleagues in the fundraising profession.
AFP Chicago is the largest chapter of AFP in the United States and we offer many opportunities for involvement, continuing education, networking, and career advancement. I hope that you take advantage of the many great programs and activities that will enrich your career in fundraising.
