The Chicago Chapter mission is to promote the development and growth of professional fundraising executives who are committed to the preservation and advancement of philanthropy in our society and our nonprofit institutions. The vision statement for the Chapter states that AFP Chicago will be valued as the indispensable professional development resource for fundraisers, and as Chicagoland's leading champion of philanthropy as a force for building community. The Chicago Chapter is one of the largest of AFP's 188 chapters worldwide. Our more than 1,000 Chapter members represent a broad spectrum of professional experience and personal and cultural backgrounds. These members represent similarly diverse organizations, encompassing the areas of health, human services, education, religion, the arts, civic organizations and affiliated consulting firms. Our members work for museums, hospitals, university, community-based service organizations, theatres, mutual aid societies, and a variety of civic, religious and recreational organizations. The work of development professionals today is more diverse, dynamic, and complex than ever before, as their role in the philanthropic community becomes more important. Chicago Chapter members practice a wide spectrum of disciplines that include board development, many specialized aspects of campaign and annual fund development and consulting. Our members are as geographically diverse as the Chicago metropolitan area itself, with some members working throughout northern and southern Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin. Some members who have relocated or travel in their work maintain their Chicago memberships because of the unique programming and networking that the Chicago Chapter provides. Join us today and be a part of the dynamic AFP Chicago Chapter!
