PEER MENTORING

Are you looking for one-on-one guidance and support from a seasoned development professional to help you with specific fundraising or career development issues?

Or are you a seasoned professional who wants to give back to the Chicago philanthropic community by helping to ensure that non-profit organizations have the best fundraisers?

The AFP Chicago Peer Mentoring Program is looking for you!  A new class of mentors and protégés will kick off in October 2010, and we hope you will participate.

The Peer Mentoring Program is one of the most important programs the AFP Chicago Chapter offers.  This members-only benefit endeavors to provide one-on-one mentoring and training to advance the skills of those newer to the profession, transitioning to a new area of the field or looking for opportunities to grow in their fundraising career.  For both mentors and protégés, this is an exceptional opportunity to share expertise, network with and learn from colleagues, and, ultimately, ensure the strength of Chicagoland's philanthropic community

Not only does the program help support the professional development of newer fundraisers, but also it enhances the professional abilities of participating mentors, fostering collegial relationships and providing additional networking opportunities with colleagues in the Chicago area.

Participant Requirements:
All participants must be current members of AFP Chicago Chapter.   Additional requirements are as follows:
Protégé:

  1. Minimum of one year in development; currently employed as a fundraising professional with a non-profit organization (not on a consultant basis)
  2. Application and resume submitted

Mentor:

  3. Commitment to participate for one full calendar year
