PROGRAMS
Midwest Conference
on Philanthropy
The annual Midwest
Conference on Philanthropy offers broad-based training opportunities
across
many sectors of the nonprofit world. This one day program
provides educational programming from fundraising fundamentals to
securing major gifts and examining issues that affect philanthropy.
Attendees will enhance their personal skills, meet and
learn from leaders in philanthropy, network with colleagues,
and make new contacts within the nonprofit industry.
Philanthropy Awards
Luncheon
Recognizing distinguished
leadership, philanthropists, and community service is critical to the
advancement of philanthropy. Each
year,
AFP Chicago honors the donors and volunteers whose gifts of time,
expertise
and resources contribute significantly to the success of the nonprofit
agencies and institutions they serve. The Chapter’s Philanthropy
Awards Luncheon provides a unique opportunity for the nonprofit community
to recognize those who do so much to enhance the philanthropic spirit
in Chicago.
Chapter Program Meetings
Networking
and professional education are critical components of success.
The chapter holds programs annually on a wide variety of issues facing
today’s fundraisers.
Audioconferences
In
AFP audioconferences, participants convene at an area site for a large
conference call in a controlled, radio-like environment.
Participants
listen in on a live presentation and dialogue with presenters and other
participants worldwide. The Chapter offers these audioconferences as
an additional educational program to members.
Chicago Fellows
Program
AFP Chicago’s objective is to offer our educational resources and the collective professional expertise of our membership – in accessible and user-friendly formats – to assist individuals in building communities through philanthropy as well as building professional fundraising skills.
The Fellows Program is an outreach initiative of the AFP Chicago Chapter created to build awareness of these resources, particularly to those individuals who have been in the profession for three years or less and might otherwise not have the opportunity or resources to take advantage of its services.
This program is offered to any individuals working with or for nonprofit organizations in metropolitan Chicago, with an emphatic interest in people of color and/or Gay/Lesbian/Bisexual/Transgender/Questioning (GLBTQ). Individuals from grassroots organizations are strongly encouraged to apply.
Applications are now being accepted for the 2011 AFP Chicago Fellows Program. The program will run from January 1 – December 31, 2011, and selected Fellows will receive complimentary registration to all AFP Chicago 2010 Programs as well as paid 2011 membership dues. The Fellows program accepts applications from individuals who are responsible for fundraising in a metropolitan Chicago 501(c)(3), but who are not currently members of AFP/AFP Chicago. The Fellows Program is highly selective and we encourage you to review the application materials today! The deadline for all applications has been extended to November 12, 2010. Peer Mentoring Program
The Peer Mentoring Program is one of the benefits that your membership in AFP Chicago offers. The program pairs a seasoned development professional to mentor a protégé for one year, providing encouragement, advice and counsel. The result of your voluntary participation in the program advances your professional skills through learning, one-on-one coaching and networking opportunities. Individuals interested in applying to become a protégé must be currently employed (in a non-consulting position) and have a minimum of one year experience working for a non-profit organization. The ideal candidate is interested in advancing his or her skills toward a leadership career in the non-profit industry.
We welcome your participation! Please click here to learn more and access an application.
