CAN'T-MISS EVENTS

"Corporate Social Responsibility: Social Conscience or Bottom Line?" Educational Program and Luncheon
Friday, June 12, 2009, Maggiano’s Banquets.  Is it possible for a company to save the world? Should they be in the business of trying? Are companies more profitable if they demonstrate concern for human rights, the environment, community development, and the welfare of their employees?

Corporate Social Responsibility is becoming imperative to business. The model of traditional sponsorships and corporate involvement is being challenged by both the non-profit and corporate sectors. Join AFP Chicago for a lively debate about the principles of Corporate Social Responsibility and how it affects fundraising goals and strategies. Our panel of experts will discuss both the benefits and challenges of Corporate Social Responsibility and its current and future impact on the field of fundraising.

NEWS/UPDATES

The 33rd Annual Philanthropy Awards Luncheon a Success
On Friday, May 15, 2009, the 33rd Annual Philanthropy Awards Luncheon was hosted at the Hilton Chicago Hotel honoring eight of the Chicago area’s top philanthropists.

More than 700 fundraising professionals, nonprofit administrators, business community leaders and volunteers honored these outstanding philanthropists - Marilyn Foster Kirk, CFRE, Rev. Michael Boland, Richard H. Driehaus, Betty Bergstrom, CFRE, Athlete’s CARE, Frank M. Clark, Bill Kurtis and Donna LaPietra, and Mary Ann Mallahan. Each of the honorees epitomizes the spirit of Chicago philanthropy at its best- sparking the entire philanthropic community to make a difference in the lives of many.

This day would not have been possible without the generosity support of our lead luncheon sponsors: The Chicago Community Trust, ComEd, Crain’s Chicago Business, Chicago Sun-Times Charity Trust, The Richard Driehaus Foundation, DePaul University, and Saint Xavier University.  The day would not have been complete without the services of our emcee, Zoraida Sambolin, weekday morning anchor of NBC5 news.

Nominations for the 2010 AFP Chicago Awards Luncheon are now being accepted through October 1, 2009.  For a nomination form or more information, please go to the AFP Chicago Web site, www.afpchicago.org/afpluncheon.   While on the Web site, be sure to check out the video clips presented on each of this year's honorees.  You can find them on each of the honoree's biography page.

We look forward to seeing everyone at the 34th Annual AFP Chicago Awards Luncheon on May 21, 2010 at the Hilton Chicago.
