AFP Chicago Workshops Practical, professional insights at your desktop
Professional education and networking go hand-in-hand at AFP Chicago’s virtual workshop series. Several times per year, AFP Chicago brings together thought-leaders who share their expertise and insights on some of the most pressing issues facing fundraising professionals today.
May Workshop - Virtual Topic: Building Board Diversity and Representation (Part II) Date: Friday, May 13, 2022 Time: 12:00 - 1:00 pm
In the journey of advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) at a nonprofit, everyone at your organization, including the board, can play a role and lead by example. Diversity is not a box an organization can check off and forget about. A nonprofit’s board composition can either help or hinder how connected an organization is to the communities they serve. Many nonprofits are looking to diversify their board, aiming to understand what a focus on DEI means for their organization and board members. Having a board with diverse perspectives, lived experiences, and expertise puts any organization in a stronger position to plan for the future, be adaptive, and make better decisions.
AFP Chicago will explore building board diversity and representation through the following focus areas in Part II of this series:
PART II
- Putting it into action and where we go from here
- Case studies from local nonprofits
