Neurodiverse Affinity Group LogoAFP Chicago Neurodiverse Affinity Group
The AFP Chicago Neurodiverse Affinity Group exists to create a safe space for neurodiverse fundraisers to thrive in community, affirm each others' unique strengths and capacities, and work to build a more accessible and welcoming field. The group supports visibility for neurodiverse fundraisers, with twin goals to provide space for neurodiverse fundraisers to feel themselves and at ease, as well as to shift the greater community's understanding of and accommodations provided for neurodivergent individuals.

The group welcomes all Chicago-based fundraising professionals and workers who identify as neurodiverse, including (but not limited to) those with Autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia, dyspraxia, dysnomia/aphasia, intellectual disabilities, speech disorders, Tourette syndrome, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. We also welcome fundraisers who are questioning whether a given neurotype/status/identity applies to them; self-diagnosed as well as clinically diagnosed individuals are both welcome.

AFP Chicago White Fundraisers Advocating for Racial Equity (WFARE) Affinity Group
Understanding that white people have a responsibility to address and dismantle racism, White Fundraisers Advocating for Racial Equity aims to develop a shared understanding of systemic racism’s manifestation in fundraising, nonprofits, and philanthropy; support individual growth for fundraisers to become anti-racist; and develop tools, techniques, and support for fundraisers to influence change in their workplaces and the broader sector towards a more racially-equitable society.

Fundraisers of any race are very welcome to join the group’s virtual meetings, which take place the second Wednesday of every month from 9:00 -10:00 am Central Time, on Zoom. AFP members and non-members are welcome. Registration links are found on the AFP Chicago events calendar.
