A crucial but often overlooked aspect of fundraising is the implementation of ethical gift acceptance policies. These policies ensure that donations align with the organization's mission and values and help to maintain transparency, accountability, and integrity by setting clear guidelines for accepting gifts from donors. In this session, we will discuss elements of gift acceptance policies that fundraisers can use to build trust with donors and stakeholders, cultivate opportunities for giving that are inclusive and accessible, and ultimately establish long-term sustainability of the organization’s fundraising operations. Additionally, we will discuss the evolution of policies for new and emerging giving vehicles such as cryptocurrency.
