More Learning Opportunities for Peer Mentoring Participants

Participation in AFP Chicago’s Peer Mentoring Program continues to be one of the most invaluable benefits of membership in our Chapter. Every year, the Peer Mentoring Committee matches two cohorts of protégés and mentors for a 12-month relationship that focuses on each protégé’s growth as a fundraising professional.

In addition, program participants are invited to virtual, optional quarterly discussion groups that are led by Committee members and that encourage networking between and within the two current cohorts of protégés and mentors. Recent discussion group topics have included charting career trajectories in development, navigating toxic work situations, and making the leap to major gift fundraising. The 75-minute format typically includes a brief presentation, with the majority of time spent in smaller breakout groups for more in-depth conversation, brainstorming and networking. We’re pleased to offer the quarterly discussion groups as a vital part of the Peer Mentoring Program, and to enhance the learning experience for our participating protégés and mentors.

Applications for the Fall 2023 Cohort of the Peer Mentoring Program will open in August 2023. Please monitor the AFP Chicago website and your email for announcements on how to join the Program and gain access to quarterly discussion groups, open office hours, and much more. For more information, please contact Peer Mentoring Committee Co-Chairs Jennifer Dettloff and Christopher Chantson.
